Portrait of Rose
This artistic portrait of the bride most accurately reflects our style in photography, where a photographer is trying to share the delicate state of mind and a play of chiaroscuro. These photos are taken without any prior preparation and staging.
We are sure that many brides dream of such pictures. Decades later, when they will look through their wedding book, will again feel that indescribable happy excitement overwhelmed them in those wonderful and unforgettable moments.
In 2017, according to the decision of the WPJA, American photojournalistic organization, this photo was included in the 20 best creative bride portraits.
This photo also has an interesting story that we would like to share with you.
This picture was taken on the wedding day, during the bride’s preparations, on the very day when we first started to work together as a married couple of photographers. Subsequently, this shot became our style in photography.
About 15 people were present in the bride’s small room, where her final preparations were made before the groom’s arrival. It was July and the room was very stuffy, the bride’s attention was constantly drawn by her friends and it was extremely difficult to make an interesting shot.
At one point, the bride looked at us, thinking that we were shooting her, but at that particular moment, our attention was focused on this innocent creature, who was staring at the bride with eyes full of admiration.
The bride’s face is not seen here, but the look of the wonderful child and a certain vagueness provide the image with special mystery and beauty.
Gadgets to help us
Not always, all of our family members have the opportunity to attend the wedding of their loved ones in this time the mobile technology comes to our aid.
This is a real moment that was shot from a low point, with beautiful light and shadow play, and natural emotions.
This photo is very valuable for us, as it became our first significant victory at the WPJA international wedding photography contest in 2016.
Baptism in the art of photography
The photo of a crying baby girl during a baptismal ceremony has an unusual history, it became our calling card and initiated our series of images “Baptism in the Art of Photography”. A little heroine of this picture had a very bad squint. The baby’s parents, truly believing in God and hoping for healing, brought her from St. Petersburg to Etchmiadzin to perform the baptism. The shot captures the moment when crying baby turned away from the camera and the priest poured out the Holy water onto her. Here we can see both harmonious composition and play of light and shadow; the action is in process and each viewer can mentally complete the story.
Doves of happiness
Since ancient times, there has been a tradition in Armenia to release pigeons after a wedding ceremony. Pigeons are traditionally released by newlyweds, but this time the godparents decided to join them. The picture was taken at the church of St. Gevorg, located in Mugni village. Unable to remain indifferent, the WPJA awarded the 11th place to this work in 2017.
The sacrament of baptism
Taking pictures of children is not an easy task, especially when the photographer, by all criteria, has only one chance to take a truly worthy shot. Children are very spontaneous and unpredictable in their emotions and behavior; on the one hand, this occurs some difficulties, on the other hand, these difficulties open up completely different opportunities for creativity. This photo won the highest PRO AWARD at the FPJA international competition of family photography in 2018.
